Rancho Cordova Business Park Hosts Self-Driving Olli Shuttle

Olli – Phoenix-based Local Motors ’ self-driving shuttle – is currently in use at a major business park in Rancho Cordova, California for its first business use pilot program. According to Local Motors, the 12-passenger autonomous vehicle is the world's first to be co-created at distributed microfactories using additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) techniques.

The Olli shuttle will be available to the general public and the White Rock Corporate Campus’ 1,600 workers during a three-month pilot that ends on November 7. The pilot – funded by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) through a $90,000 grant, with an additional $10,000 in funding assistance from the City of Rancho Cordova – will be used to better understand public sentiment regarding self-driving shuttles, the potential for congestion relief and better mobility, the reduction of single occupant vehicle use, and the potential for the use of the latest Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology.
