New SAE Technical-Paper Competition Targets Submissions from Student and Young-Professional Members
SAE International is hosting a technical-paper competition for student and young-professional members with an enticing potential payoff: four all-expenses-paid trips to the organization’s first-ever Innovations in Mobility conference in Novi, Michigan Oct. 29-31.
Technical paper abstract submissions are open through March 25, 2019 for any SAE International members who are students and/or young professionals (age 18-34); the competition’s rules, requirements and guidelines—as well as helpful resources for writing a technical paper, while abstracts can be submitted via this portal .
Submissions will follow standard SAE event paper review and publishing practices—and all papers receiving approval will be published by SAE. Final technical paper submissions will be reviewed and judged by SAE’s Competition Review Panel, with select winners invited to present at the inaugural SAE Innovations in Mobility event.
The five primary automotive-technology categories for the competition:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Advanced materials
- Advanced propulsion
- Automated/autonomous and connected vehicles
- On-demand mobility
There are numerous sub-topics within each of the primary categories.
This competition will provide SAE Student Members and young professional members (SAE Members age 34 and younger) with the opportunity to gain exposure and recognition in the mobility field. The Four winners will be selected by SAE’s Competition Review Panel from the two highest-scored student and two highest-scored young professional papers.
While the competition’s winners will network with some of the top industry professionals at the new Innovations in Mobility conference, all participants with published papers will be able to enhance their resumes with a major industry accomplishment that may assist in providing a competitive edge with potential recruiters.
The SAE Membership Team will contact the selected winners by Aug. 30, 2019, via email/and or phone to invite them to present their papers at Innovations in Mobility. Attendance at the event must be confirmed by Sept. 9, 2019, upon which a press release will announce the four winners.
