Gold-Plated Low-Ohmic Resistors

With its small size of 5.08 x 2.54 x 0.4 mm (0.20 x 0.10 x 0.02 in), high load capacity, and precision, Isabellenhütte’s gold-plated VMP-A resistor is suitable for automobile engine and transmission modules as well as power hybrids and power modules (DCB ceramic) in frequency converters. The VMP-A resistor is a member of the VMx precision resistor family with gold-plated contacts. The VMx-A versions of the resistors are not only suitable for component mounting by means of reflow and infrared soldering, but they can also be mounted with conductive adhesive. According to the company, the advantage of the gold plating is that it allows models such as the VMP-A to be used in high-temperature applications. The VMP-A resistor features a temperature range of -55 to 170°C (-67 to 338°F). It also offers a constant load capacity of up to 2 W at 110°C (230°F) and can handle a constant current of up to 20 A. Certified according to the AEC-Q200 quality standard for electrical components in the automotive industry, the VMP-A’s dielectric strength is 200 V ac/dc.
