Clegg to Lead GM's North America Manufacturing
General Motors announced Tuesday several personnel changes in leadership. Cathy Clegg was appointed Vice President of North America Manufacturing, effective July 1. Clegg will lead more than 74,000 employees and will be responsible for 55 facilities, including assembly, stamping, powertrain, and component operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Clegg succeeds Gerald Johnson, who was named Vice President, Operational Excellence.
During his 33 years with GM, Johnson has served as North America Manufacturing Vice President, Executive Director of Global Program Quality and Launch as well as other leadership positions in labor relations and manufacturing and an overseas assignment in Zurich, Switzerland.
Clegg has been with GM for 31 years and has held leadership positions across the manufacturing organization. Most recently, she served as Global Manufacturing Engineering Vice President. She was responsible for automotive body, press, assembly, controls, paint, powertrain, and global program management. Kurt Wiese will replace Clegg as the new Global Manufacturing Engineering Vice President.
Prior to Wiese’s new appointment, he was Executive Director in Global Product Development. Wiese has 36 years of experience in manufacturing and manufacturing engineering. Before serving as Executive Director in Global Product Development, he led operations at Oshawa Truck Assembly and Manufacturing Engineering Vehicle Body Systems.media
