Distribution Module
Murphy’s PowerCore Intelligent Xpansion power distribution module (PDM) expands CAN bus control networks by replacing traditional relay and fuse boxes with solid-state switches that drive lights, cooling fans, wiper motors, and directional dc motors. Twelve PDM outputs can switch or control 15-A loads and feature built-in over-current detection and shutdown capability. Outputs run up to six electric motors with direction control. Twelve digital inputs monitor switched battery, ground, and floating inputs, while eight analog inputs are available with a 5-V sensor supply. Remotely locating the PDM near signals and loads reduces wiring length. The I/O is multiplexed using a CAN bus network to simplify design and improve installation. A separate microcontroller is not needed, and the enclosure is sealed to withstand wash-down and to protect from dust.
