The Acoustocam I500 ultrasound imaging camera from Imperium (Silver Spring, MD) is a portable real-time imaging system for the nondestructive detection of defects within materials such as composite and metal structures. It detects a variety of internal flaws such as impact damage, voids, delaminations, disbands, corrosion, and internal cracks. The device is a camcorder for ultrasound that generates real-time video of internal flaws. It has applications in aerospace, marine, microelectronics, and automotive industries.
