Law Enforcement Agencies Used DroneSense’s UAS-Management Platform to Support Indy 500 Security Operations
During the 2019 Indianapolis 500 IndyCar race, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) pilots from the Speedway Police Department , Indianapolis Metro Police Department , Indianapolis Fire Department , and Wayne Township Fire Department deployed various types of UAS – or “drones” – to maintain optimum surveillance coverage throughout the weekend’s events. DroneSense, Inc. ’s OpsCenter software platform provided first responders with actionable, real-time video for security operations.
“With the Indy 500 being one of the largest events for attendance in the world, providing overwatch operations is very challenging,” says Indianapolis Metro Police Department Office, Ron Shelnutt. “The DroneSense platform is seamless, easy to use, and was essential in providing real-time video streams from our drones to the command center.”
