Polycarbonate Film Grade
Covestro’s (formerly Bayer MaterialScience) Makrofol SR906 is a polycarbonate film that offers good scratch and weathering resistance, making it suitable for use in automotive instrument panels. The clear, transparent film has a gloss-gloss surface finish. It is capped with a functional acrylic layer that includes an ultraviolet protection additive designed for information technology, electrical/electronic, and automotive interior applications such as bezels, knobs, and switches. The film can be used to create a range of surface appearances ranging from high-gloss, piano black effects, or a fine matte finish. The material combines manufacturing flexibility with high formability, and a 50% scratch-resistance improvement over gloss polycarbonate film surfaces. The film is especially designed for use with the film insert molding process.
