High-Strength Steels
SSAB has launched Strenx, a new high-strength structural steel product brand that offers an extensive portfolio of high-strength steels designed for sectors where structural strength and weight savings are key competitive factors, especially in the lifting, handling, and transportation industry, where product is lifted and moved. Strenx is also well suited for agriculture, the frames of heavy mobile machines, rolling stock, offshore, and construction sectors. Because of Strenx’s yield strengths that range from 600 to 1300 MPa, which SSAB says is the strongest steel available on the market, customers will be able use less steel, and thus decrease equipment weight, to design cranes that reach further, trailers that carry more payload, and trucks that use less fuel. Strenx now covers the three product brands—Optim, Weldox, and Domex—that are trademarks of SSAB and the former Ruukki, which merged with SSAB in 2014. Strenx features a wide choice of high-strength structural steels both in terms of strength and dimensional range. Strenx is available in plate, strip, and tubular products in thicknesses ranging from 0.7 to 160 mm (0.028 to 6.3 in). Strenx comes with guaranteed product consistency to enhance end-product performance.
