Flow Switch
The Model 1100 from Thomas Products (Southington, CT) is an inline flow sensor that monitors insufficient or excessive flow rates of liquids. A magnet-equipped shuttle is displaced at the proper calibrated flow of liquid to actuate a SPDT hermetically-sealed reed switch within the stem. The unit is available with factory fixed flow settings of .4 to 100 GPM in water or custom flow settings in oil. Other models are available with vanes for adjusting the set points in the field. Standard process connections range from 3⁄4" to 3" NPT. Optional silver braze or socket weld ports are available, and materials of brass, bronze, or 316 stainless steel are standard. Model 1100 has passed testing for accelerated life, salt spray, shock, and vibration. The sensor has maximum pressure ratings of 1200 PSI at 100°F.
