Low-Emissions Binder for Composites

BASF offers low-emissions Acrodur Power 2750 X binder for lightweight automotive composites with integrated functions. Designed for the production of natural-fiber composites for applications such as interior car door panels and shelves, Acrodur Power offers an alternative to formaldehyde-based reactive resins and improves mechanical stability in fiber composites. The product also offers thermoplastic processability and allows the use of up to 75% natural fibers. With a water-based binder, Acrodur can create components 40% lighter than conventional plastic products, improving fuel economy and reducing carbon emissions; Power 2750 X does not release any organic substances that could degrade air quality inside cars. Natural fibers bonded with Acrodur Power 2750 X can be processed using traditional thermoplastic cold-forming methods in one step with complex plastic elements such as reinforcing ribs or supports.
