B&W Tek (Newark, DE) has introduced the MiniRam II portable Raman spectrometer, a lightweight, battery operated Raman instrument with a 10-cm-1 spectral resolution in 175 - 3100 cm-1 Raman shift range, with a stabilized 785-nm excitation laser. By using a fiber-coupled sampling probe and integrated handtop PC, a user can collect Raman spectra of solids and liquids at the scene, where the information is most useful. Also available is an integrated cuvette-based sampling system configuration.
