Pedestrian-Avoidance Using Smart Devices at Aug. 10 SAE SV Meetup
SAE’s informal “Innovations in Mobility” Silicon Valley meetup series continues on Aug. 10 with a presentation on advanced pedestrian avoidance using smart devices.
Jens Kotte, senior engineer and manager-Active Safety at fka in Aachen, Germany, details how state-of-the-art onboard pedestrian collision-avoidance systems can be improved by using smart devices as an additional information source. Relevant parameters for predicting a pedestrian’s presence—and how these can be made available in enhanced pedestrian collision-avoidance systems by incorporating smart devices as additional sensors—will be discussed.
The Innovations in Mobility meetup begins with food, beverages and networking at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Prospect Silicon Valley, 1608 Las Plumas Ave, San Jose, CA. Kotte’s presentation begins at 7:00 and fka’s driving simulator will be available following the discussion.
