Radionuclide Detection System

The ORTEC Products Group of AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology (Oak Ridge, TN) has introduced the ORTEC Detective Mobile, a mobile radionuclide search system that incorporates high-purity germanium detectors and software analysis technology to provide stand-off detection of improvised nuclear dispersal devices (IND/RDD). The system provides a modular solution for nuclear and radiological material detection, identification, and mapping, and is an alternative to other systems using scintillation detectors.
The system provides real-time detection using portable Interchangeable Detector Modules (IDMs) that act as intelligent detector nodes, supplying streams of data to a central analysis computer. Suspected materials are identified and displayed in real time on a moving map.
