Silicone Adhesive
NuSil Technology (Carpenteria, CA) has introduced SCV-2586 Ultra Low Outgassing™ silicone adhesive for applications requiring thermal stability and a broad operating temperature range in aerospace, aircraft, and electronics industries. It can be used as a bonding, sealing, or potting material, and provides radiation resistance, low thermal conductivity, oxidation stability, thermal stability, and ablative characteristics. The material has a specific gravity of 0.74 for flight applications in which weight is a concern, and features a primed lap shear strength of 175 psi. With a work time of four hours, the material can be processed over large surface areas. The addition-cure silicone does not require moisture to cure, and has minimal shrinkage and no by-products.
