Thermal Imager
InfraRed Integrated Systems Ltd. (Irisys, Northampton, UK) offers the IRI 1011 universal thermal imager for military and industrial applications. The imager houses the imaging optics, detector, drive electronics, optical modulator, laser pointer, and four standard or rechargeable AA batteries. The system includes an optional pistol-grip handle that holds virtually any PocketPC or compatible device as a combined processing, display unit, and image storage device. The output of the imager can be displayed and processed in real time using a PC.
{ntbad}The system is designed for one- or two-handed operation. For one-handed operation, both the imager and the PocketPC device can be attached to the handle to form a single, integrated unit. For two-handed operation, the imager can be detached from the handle, leaving the PocketPC device attached. The latter configuration allows the imager to be pointed at awkward angles or used in confined spaces. It features an 8-Hz frame rate and can store up to 1,000 images per MB of memory.
