Software-Based Drive Functions

Siemens has extended the range of applications for its Sinamics S120 drives family with software-based advanced technology functions. The application-specific functions are synchronous operation (1:1 or with gear ratio), camming, and positioning of the synchronous axes. Users can extend existing or new Sinamics S120 drive systems with the functions, which are part of the Drive Control Block (DCB). In addition, drive-related control and adjustment tasks can be transferred from the controller to the drive, protecting critical process knowledge against unauthorized access. The DCB extension block library and functions can be installed easily on the Sinamics S120 drives via the graphical user interface of the Drive Control Chart Editor, part of the Starter commissioning software. A chargeable license is required to access all functions.
