Hydraulic and Instrumentation Tubing

Sandvik Materials Technology will demonstrate its newest advancements for hydraulic and hollow bar applications at this year’s IFPE 2014 in Las Vegas. Sandvik’s hydraulic tubing is used globally in demanding applications such as offshore, automotive manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing. Its steel grades have smoother surfaces and superior mechanical properties for better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than standard ASTM 316 steels, the company claims. These products include Sandvik 3R60, the manufacturer’s next-generation 316L grade straight length and coiled hydraulic and instrumentation tubing, which will be launched to North American customers at IFPE 2014. An austenitic chromium-nickel steel, Sandvik 3R60 offers higher strength, better weldability, and improved corrosion resistance. The material’s increased Molybdenum content of 2.5% enhances resistance against different corrosion types, such as organic and inorganic (i.e. phosphoric or sulfuric) acids at varied temperatures. Stainless steel hollow bar by Sandvik will also be exhibited, with optimized machining properties for reduced tool wear and higher cutting speeds, which contribute to increased productivity in component manufacture. Sandvik hollow bar is available in a range of sizes to reduce costs per component produced, while freeing up machine time and cutting material waste for significant cost reductions, typically in the manufacture of valve bodies for fluid power systems.
