Brushless PM Ring Motor
ThinGap (Ventura, CA) has released its 14050 14-inch Ring Motor series, which offer up to 60kW. The design produces no rotor-to-stator magnetic forces, cogging, eddy current losses, or hysteresis. Magnets and a 13-4 PH stainless steel rotor, mounted inside the outer face of the ring, allow for up to 10,000 rpm. In a ThinGap motor, the stator is formed of laminated, precision-etched copper sheet, resulting in a thin 0.15" wall and improved cooling capabilities. Because the motor will not saturate magnetically,
