Selecting RF Coaxial Cables for Space Flight

SPONSORED BY:

By evaluating key criteria, engineers can make informed decisions to enhance space mission success and the longevity of space systems. This 30-minute webinar will explore the key considerations for selecting RF coaxial cables for space applications, emphasizing performance, reliability, and environmental resilience. It will examine factors such as signal integrity, radiation resistance, thermal stability, multipaction, and weight constraints. Material selection, connector compatibility, and testing protocols also will be addressed to ensure optimal performance in harsh space environments.

Key topics include:

  • The importance of cable performance in mission-critical systems and key cable selection criteria
  • Material degradation under radiation
  • Thermal cycling impacts and insulation choices
  • Multipaction and vacuum considerations — design and material choices to mitigate risks
  • The importance of lightweight designs for launch
  • Trade-offs between flexibility, size, and durability
  • Ensuring connector compatibility and assembly
  • Testing protocols and qualification

An audience Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.
