In modern defense applications, extreme environments and high-power electronics create complex thermal management challenges. From mobile command centers to radar systems and containerized data centers, maintaining optimal operating temperatures is mission critical.
This 30-minute webinar will explore how environmental control units (ECUs) and chiller technologies provide reliable and efficient cooling for defense applications. The program will discuss the latest advancements in hybrid cooling systems, ruggedized solutions, and energy-efficient designs that enhance system performance and longevity in harsh conditions.
Key topics include:
- The impact of extreme temperatures on military electronics and mission readiness
- How hybrid ECU and chiller systems optimize cooling performance
- Critical factors to consider in ECU and chiller applications for defense applications
An audience Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.
Speaker:
David-Paul Schulze, Engineer, Advanced Cooling Technologies
David-Paul Schulze is an Engineer at Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT), specializing in rugged ECU and chiller solutions for industrial and defense applications. Since 2022, he has contributed to designing custom thermal management systems that meet extreme operational demands. Recently, he led the development of the new VaphtekTM environmental control unit, which combines standard vapor compression and pumped two-phase cooling for maximum energy savings and long-term reliability. Prior to ACT, David-Paul gained hands-on experience during his time at Continental, Caterpillar, and APT Research, working on thermodynamic modeling, ICE performance analysis, and safety engineering. He also contributed to a NASA-funded hydrogen synthesis project at Valparaiso University from which he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. With a background in mechanical and thermal-fluid systems, David-Paul combines technical expertise with a passion for innovation and problem-solving. His work continues to advance efficient, mission-critical cooling solutions.
