US Air Force: Still Flying High at 75

"Ever since the Air Force became a separate military service, empowered Airmen have pushed the boundaries of technology and innovation that have allowed the service to excel and keep pace with the rapid changes and the demands placed upon us,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., the service’s highest ranking military officer. “Our commemoration of this important anniversary provides a chance to reflect on the amazing accomplishments of our service and those who have served among its ranks since 1947, while also celebrating the boundless future that lies ahead.”

The National Security Act of 1947 became law on July 26, 1947, creating the United States Air Force. Since its inception, the mission of the United States Air Force has been to fly, fight, and win — delivering airpower anytime, anywhere in defense of our nation. On September 18, 2022, the Air Force celebrates its 75th anniversary, continuing this mission.
