Thick Film Shunt Resistors

The LTR100L resistors

ROHM Semiconductor (Kyoto, Japan) introduced their new thick-film shunt resistors, LTR100L, optimized for industrial and consumer applications. Often used to detect current in battery protection and motor drive circuits, shunt resistors require higher accuracy to improve reliability and ensure high-efficiency operation. The LTR100L series achieves rated power of 4W in the 3264 size (3.2 mm × 6.4 mm) / 1225 size (0.12 inch × 0.25 inch) by revising resistor materials and applying terminal temperature derating. This makes them suitable for current detection in motor control and over-current protection circuits for industrial and consumer applications, which are progressing towards higher power.

Wireless Torque Sensor

The SGR510/520 sensors

Sensor Technology (Banbury, UK) has extended its new range of non-contact torque sensors up to 13,000 Nm. The new sensors, designated the SGR510/520 series, use a full four element strain gauge bridge design. The new design also compensates for any extraneous forces, such as bending moments, inadvertently applied to the sensor, improves sensitivity, and has a wide temperature tolerance. An ultra-miniature microcontroller, mounted on a rotor and powered by an inductive coil, measures the differential values in each strain gauge and transmits them back to the stator digitally, via the same coil. State of the art strain gauge signal conditioning techniques are then used to convert raw live data into precise torque value measurements.

CAD/CAM Software Suite

The new hyper-MILL® 2022.1 CAD/CAM software suite

OPEN MIND Technologies AG (Needham, MA) has introduced its latest hyper-MILL® 2022.1 CAD/CAM software suite that offers users new and enhanced features for even more powerful NC programming in applications ranging from 2.5D to 5-axis. Highlights in hyperMILL® 2022.1 include a new break-edge function for contour milling, combined pocket milling together with a finish path allowing cutter compensation, and increased efficiency for 3D plane machining. The new automated 3D plane machining strategy improves machining quality by searching for suitable, high performance path layouts according to parameters including when adaptive pockets are present. For improved tool data reliability and time savings, tool data such as length, radius, corner radius, and tool number and name, can be transferred directly from hyperMILL® to a Heidenhain TNC640 control using the hyper-MILL® CONNECTED Machining module.

Compact HD Lens

A new lens from Resolve Optics

Resolve Optics Ltd. (Chesham, UK) has developed a new rugged High Definition (HD) lens optimized for use in Head-Up Display (HUD) systems. Resolve Optics has taken the approach of designing a small compact zoom design that covers the majority of the aircraft that require HUD system recording. The zoom design can be used to set the lens at a desired FOV and locked. This means no matter what aircraft you need a HUD system for you will already have an optimized lens that can accommodate the correct FOV. Resolve Optics HD HUD lens has been designed and tested to withstand the high levels of vibration, shock typically found in aircraft.

CEM Interposer

Teledyne LeCroy has extended its CrossSyncPHY technology,

Teledyne LeCroy (Chestnut Ridge, NY) has announced the extension of their patented CrossSync PHY technology to support the PCI Express® 5.0 Card Electromechanical (CEM) specification. This new CEM interposer (PE230UIA-X) joins the existing CrossSync PHY enabled M.2 form factor interposers (PE210UIA for PCIe® 4.0 and the PE222UIA for PCIe 5.0), with more form factors in development. Engineers at the leading edge of highspeed serial communications are validating, debugging and deploying the first generation of PCI Express 5.0 devices for data storage, networking and other applications. Device and interoperability problems often arise in the electrical domain, protocol interaction or a combination of the two. By linking the oscilloscope with a protocol analyzer, it permits the oscilloscope and protocol analyzer traces to be viewed, navigated, and analyzed in a time-correlated way during a single system test.

Signal Generators

The Rubidium signal generator

Anritsu Company (Morgan Hills, CA) has introduced the Rubidium signal generator family that delivers signal purity and frequency stability, even at high output power levels, across a broad frequency range of 9 kHz to 43.5 GHz. Signal purity is critical to a wide range of measurement applications, from radar testing to testing ADCs and DACs. The Rubidium signal generator offers low single sideband (SSB) phase noise of -136 dBc/Hz (typical) and -140 dBc/Hz (measured) at 10 GHz and 10 kHz offset. Rubidium’s AM, FM/PM, and pulse modulation capabilities enable a wide range of complex analog modulated signals. An internal low frequency generator can produce seven waveform types to modulate the carrier. The signal generator is housed in a 3U chassis with a 7-inch touch screen on the front panel with a traditional keypad/dial interface.
