Marvin Test Solutions, Inc., a company that specializes in globally-deployed test solutions for military, aerospace, and manufacturing organizations, announced that it has received new contracts for its MTS-3060 SmartCan™ from multiple international customers to support armament systems testing on different platforms. When deployed, the Smart-Can's international customer list will grow to 12 countries using 8 different aircraft of various types and blocks. The new SmartCan contracts cover F/A-18, Hawk, F-16, and F-15, as well as the first Army test application.
The handheld MTS-3060 SmartCan is a universal O-Level armament test set capable of testing both legacy and “smart”, MIL-STD-1760-based, weapons systems. The Smart-Can supports multiple aircraft and armament systems in a single hand-held, battery-operated unit, allowing maintainers to benefit from a common test set for multiple systems. The advanced capabilities of the MTS-3060 enable it to bridge the Armament Test Gap that exists on legacy and 5th Gen platforms.
The unique design and features of the MTS-3060 Smart-Can provide test capabilities that are not typically available for flightline testing. For example, the MTS-3060 provides more than 30 measurement channels and the capability to simulate legacy and “smart” weapons. The multiple channels alleviate the requirement to use multiple testers when testing armament systems as is done today with legacy testers on F-16 and F-15. The simultaneous testing of multiple squib signals, combined with a unique cross-fire algorithm, provides a robust test process that is superior to the single-channel or dual-channel methods offered by legacy Beercans.
The SmartCan's measurement channels include: AC/DC high-voltage measurement channels for up to 400V signals; DC measurement channels for 4-39 VDC with an E-Load capable of loading up to 3.5A per channel; squib measurement signals with continuous monitoring (threshold detector) and parametric testing; specific measurement channels for grounds; and general-purpose measurement channels for -2V to +50V signals.
The MTS-3060 can generate audio and video signals required to simulate missile functions and provide a more robust test. Two channels of audio and one channel of video can be simultaneously generated. The audio and video test capabilities also allow the MTS-3060 to effectively test AGM-65 and AIM-9 systems.
