NASA Ames researchers in the Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS) are designing the Human Landing System (HLS) to deliver humans to the lunar surface as part of the Artemis project. The VMS has been supporting work for Urban Air Mobility to create a system of passenger-carrying air taxis.

VMS engineers and researchers work with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), NASA National Campaign project, and the NASA Revolutionary Vertical Lift project to support this aviation activity.
