Diamond Systems Corp. (Mountain View, CA) has introduced Pluto, a compact board-level embedded computer based on the Intel Atom processor and featuring modular PC/104-Plus expansion. The PLT-N270-1G is the first in a series of Pluto models featuring scalable CPU performance and power consumption. It integrates a 1.6-GHz Atom processor and up to 2 GB of DDR2 SDRAM. Targeted to defense, automation, and transportation applications, the system’s display controller supports analog and LVDS-interfaced CRTs and LCDs, and provides a TV output option.

I/O interfaces include two 10/100Mbps Ethernet LAN ports, one IDE interface, two SATA interfaces, four USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, PS/2 keyboard/mouse support, parallel port, programmable digital I/O port with eight inputs and eight outputs, and a CompactFlash I/II socket. The board set comprises an ETX CPU module mated with an ETX-sized I/O baseboard.
