Bombardier Selects CoLab AI Software for Jet Design and Manufacturing
Bombardier has signed a multi‑year, multimillion‑dollar agreement with CoLab AI Inc. to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) software supporting the design and manufacturing of its business jets, according to an April announcement.
Under the agreement, Bombardier will use CoLab’s AI software to support engineering decision‑making across product development cycles. The company stated that the goal is to enable engineering teams to work with large volumes of internal data and apply that information in real time during design and manufacturing activities.
“Integrating advanced artificial intelligence into our design and engineering processes will further strengthen our ability to deliver world‑class business jets for our customers and will enable our teams to make engineering decisions based on vast amounts of data in real time,” said Eric Filion, Executive Vice President of Programs and Supply Chain at Bombardier. “This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and the continual advancement of Canadian aerospace capabilities.”
A key focus of the deployment is the capture and reuse of internal engineering knowledge. The software is intended to automatically collect lessons learned from engineering activities and resurface that information when relevant to future programs, reducing reliance on post‑program retrospectives and helping inform design decisions earlier in development.

CoLab develops AI‑enabled software for mechanical engineering and hardware development teams. Its platform supports collaborative engineering workflows by combining design data, engineering feedback, and AI‑based analysis in a single environment. The company positions the technology as a way to help engineers make consistent, informed decisions based on accumulated organizational knowledge.
Bombardier indicated that the agreement builds on its existing use of digital and AI‑based tools within engineering and manufacturing operations. By applying artificial intelligence to engineering workflows and knowledge management, the company aims to support efficiency, quality, and performance across its business jet programs.
Founded in 2017, CoLab supplies engineering software used by manufacturers in aerospace and other industrial sectors. The Bombardier agreement reflects continued interest across the aerospace industry in applying AI directly to core engineering processes rather than as standalone analytics tools.
