Testing New Unmanned Aircraft Technologies

Unmanned aircraft, commonly referred to as “drones,” are one of the fastest growing areas of modern technology — whether we’re talking about the complex hunter/killer and surveillance systems used by the military, the sophisticated, remotely piloted vehicles used for civil and agricultural applications, or the systems proposed for future commercial applications such as parcel delivery. How are unmanned aircraft developers testing the electronics, mechanical, digital, and other new technologies constantly being integrated into unmanned aircraft?

This 60-minute Webinar from the editors of Aerospace & Defense Technology will attempt to address this question while exploring some of the test equipment developers and operators are using to test new unmanned aircraft technologies.

Topics include:

  • Calibrating sensors in isolation as well as in the fully assembled end product in order to obtain a complete system calibration
  • Understanding sensor performance and how to adjust coefficients in order to produce systems built on precise, robust sensor data
  • Using precision laboratory equipment for testing and calibration of air data systems for the extremely demanding levels of QA necessary in the industry
  • Using test flights to help confirm correct behaviors in different scenarios

An audience Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.
