Improving EV Performance, Efficiency, and Range with Multi-Functional Shift Systems

SPONSORED BY:

Electric vehicle (EV) drivetrain systems are being redefined — creating next-generation propulsion systems as the EV market rapidly grows. These systems will need to be further optimized for function, efficiency, battery range, and cost as the EV market scales.

This 30-minute Webinar will explore new solutions for multi-speed shift systems that can provide novel and flexible system solutions that allow for simplified controls and increased shift performance. These innovative solutions provide greater optimization for EV propulsion systems to meet the demand for improved performance and increased range.

Topics include:

  • Multi-speed shift systems and the transition from ICE to EV drivetrains
  • Needs for next-generation EV propulsion systems to improve vehicle range and performance
  • Novel solutions for EV disconnect and shift systems enabled by new one-way-clutch technology
  • Power-shift frictionless technology with integrated one-way-clutch functionality for optimizing efficiency and performance

An audience Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.

Speaker:

John Jennings, Director of Innovation and eMobility, Amsted Automotive

As Amsted Automotive’s Director of Innovation and eMobility, John Jennings focuses on aligning new technologies to meet emerging market needs and develop the paths to commercialization. Prior to Amsted, he was Global Technology Director at Eaton Corporation, where he was responsible for next generation technologies around intelligent electric mobility, and held positions as Director of Innovation & Technology and Engineering Director at Linamar Corporation. As Engineering Director, he established the driveline and electric axle business with responsibility for the full product life cycle from R&D through production. John also held various management and engineering positions over 20 years at Ford and Visteon in the driveline, steering, and chassis areas. He serves on the operating committee for the Global Automotive & Mobility Innovation Challenge (GAMIC), an NGO supporting innovation start-ups, and previously served on the advisory board for Orbitless Drives and the Innovation Advisory Council for the Vineland Research & Innovation Center. John holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan.
