New Holland Adds Small Articulated Loaders to Lineup
The company enters the segment with five models, including its first electrified loader, the ML22X.
New Holland Construction is entering a new equipment category with its full line of small articulated loaders. The lineup consists of five models — the ML12, ML12T, ML15, ML23 and ML22X — that will be available in the first quarter of 2024.
“These new small articulated loaders are the embodiment of New Holland Construction’s commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Daniel Kakareka, product manager for New Holland Construction North America. “They’re designed to empower our customers to accomplish more in confined spaces, with increased productivity and precision. Truly, refining the way we approach landscaping and light construction tasks.”
New Holland states that these loaders are nimble and offer robust lifting capabilities and tipping load capacities. The machines are designed to maneuver in compact spaces for all landscaping and light construction needs such as snow and debris removal, contract tree care projects and landscape maintenance.
Five flavors
ML12 small articulated loader is the lightest-duty model of the range. The ML12 model has a 25-hp (18.6-kW) engine and a lifting capacity of 2,425 lbs. (1,100 kg), a tipping load capacity of 2,205 lbs. (1,000 kg) and lifting height of 85.4 inches (217 cm). New Holland states that the ML12’s operating weight allows for minimal ground disturbance when turning or hauling on soft ground such as turf. The ML12 is intended for landscapers focused on clearing sidewalks or fenced-in areas with limited space. Other key features of the ML12 model include an electro-hydraulic controlled differential, hydrostatic 4-wheel drive, standard lift path and a CII mechanical attachment coupler.
The ML12T offers the same horsepower and width as the ML12, but with a telescopic reach arm loader and lifting height of 111 inches (281 cm). This extended lift reportedly allows operators to load and unload materials from large trucks, while the extended reach provides more flexibility in dumping, leveling and grading tasks. The ML12T offers a 2,646-lb (1,200-kg) operating weight and can be used for light construction needs such as moving light debris and pallets.
The ML15 is the next size up in the range with a 3,086-lb (1,400-kg) lifting capacity and 3,307-lb (1,500-kg) tipping load. The ML15 is equipped with a 26-hp (19.4-kW) motor. The ML23 is the largest model of the range with a 4,982-lb (2,260-kg) tipping load, a 4,850-lb (2,200-kg) lifting capacity and a 96.5-inch (245-cm) lifting height. Also equipped with a 26-hp engine, the ML23 can travel at a maximum speed of 12.4 mph (20 km/h), which reportedly is the fastest speed for all New Holland’s loader models.
Plugging in
New Holland’s most innovative model in the range is the ML22X, which is the company’s first all-electric small articulated loader. The lifting capacity of the ML22X is 4,850 lbs (2,200 kg) with a tipping load of 4,528 lbs. (2,053 kg) and a lifting height of 96.5 inches (245 cm).
The ML22X is powered by a 24.9-kW lithium-ion battery that reportedly offers 5-6 hours of use per charge, depending on workload. New Holland states that multiple charging options are available, and that the on-board charger can replenish a depleted battery from 0 to 100% in approximately 8.7 hours. The fast-charge connector provides a full charge in less than 2 hours.
