SRC Inc., recently demonstrated an on-the-move configuration of its Silent Archer ® counter-unmanned aircraft system (UAS) technology at a test event held at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. SRC integrated systems from their partners Persistent Systems, Copious Imaging, and Defense Research Associates, to demonstrate the only on-the-move counter-UAS solution during the event. The Silent Archer technology detected, tracked, and defeated UAS while on the move using integrated radar, optical, electronic warfare (EW) and cyber sub-systems.
SRC’s Silent Archer counter-UAS technology is a system of systems designed for rapid deployment. The on-the-move configuration consists of SRC’s SkyChaser® radar, counter-UAS camera systems, multi-mission EW system, tactical radio, and mobile decision framework to detect, track, classify, and defeat hostile UAS. The Silent Archer on-the-move configuration is designed to be modular and can be reconfigured with different sensors and effectors to adapt to specific mission requirements.
SRC, Inc., a not-for-profit research and development company, combines information, science, technology and ingenuity to solve “impossible” problems in the areas of defense, environment and intelligence. Their Silent Archer counter unmanned aircraft system (UAS) technology, which has been fielded by both the U.S. Army and Air Force to help protect soldiers against UAS threats, delivers a turnkey counter-UAS solution comprising radar, electronic warfare systems, camera and a 3-D user display to defeat hostile drones, whether a lone target or a UAS swarm.
In a nutshell, Silent Archer detects, tracks, classifies, identifies and engages hostile UAS threats. It can electronically disrupt groups of 1-5 UAS, including UAS swarms, and complements kinetic weapon systems for a layered defense strategy. Its open architecture and sensor-agnostic design allows for integration with virtually any command-and-control system, kinetic weapon system or additional sensor platforms for added functionality.
The Silent Archer system can leverage a variety of proven SRC systems including air surveillance radar, electronic warfare systems and direction-finding units, while remaining flexible enough to integrate with almost any existing solution. It is also available in multiple configurations to support any mission, including on-the-move, expeditionary, fixed-site, and fly-away kit.
SRC has been developing and testing counter-UAS technology since 2005 and demonstrating it at USG-sponsored events.
